You should to be very CAREFUL when using any registry cleaner program online. When you download it you are giving it full access to your computer. It could install anything it wants to on your computer. But there are safe ones.

This scan is easy to download and run. But there is a little difference in the way you do it depending on if you have an XP, Vista or Win7 OS – operating system.
Here is what you do to scan your computer:

You will see an orange Free Download button (pic left) and when you click it there should be a box pop-up asking you to either Save, Run or Cancel. You will need to click “SAVE”. I understand that saving something off the internet to your computer is scary… and you are opening it up to possible problems, but this is OK and safe to “SAVE”.. The program will then be downloaded to your PC but will not open on some of the operating systems without your assistance by opening it from the Download box.
Some of the download boxes will have a “run” for you to click.. others you will need to double click on “PC Cleaner”.
Next on some computers there will be an Account Control that will pop up a box asking for permission… depending on the settings… and you will click “Continue”. Then you should accept the License Agreement and OK the location for the new file to be saved to.. the recommended C/Programs/PCCleaner is best (it only has 38 MB)… and then click Install.
After it has completed the installation you should chick on “Finish”. The PC Cleaner program is ready to run the scan. It will probably ask you to let the scan do a full computer scan since this the first time that it’s scanned this PC. And “Yes”, again. You can make any changes you want to later.
Look at how many Junk files the scan found, 45,810 not to mention all the other errors (see next post). This screen shot was taken from a PC I did a scan on not too long ago. We’ll go over more options that the registry cleaner will give you in the next post.

The scan results look bad and certainly this computer will need to have something done to it. But this was not a “dead” slow computer. It was having a few problems but I have seen a lot more issues than this one had. Most people can’t believe the amount of errors and junk their computer has until they see the results of the scan. So why do we see so many bad Active X controls in our scan? Active X was not developed by one company or developer but was created over the years as there was a need for each control. As applications interact with each other some of the controls are not compatible and are replaced by another control. But the bad Active X is still considered data by the computer and remains in storage.
